TOP RETAILERS DEBATE PROS AND CONS OF A BRANDED APPROACH

Opinions are divided on whether branded or unbranded is best and Retail’s Best, the unique business networking event that’s created and run by retailers, for retailers will be providing the platform for independent retailers and forecourt operators to debate what will ultimately fortify their position in the market – branded or unbranded. The debate will be lead by Ilyas Munshi, Commercial Director at award-winning Euro Garages, accompanied by a panel of top independent retailers, including MPK Garages and HKS Group, and takes place at the next Retail’s Best event on 26 November at Chateu Impney, Worcestershire.

Ilyas Munshi is well placed to lead the potentially lively discussion. Prior to joining Euro Garages in 2013 he was chief executive at Enterprises4All where he supported individuals to start, grow and succeed in business. He will be drawing on real-life experiences to inform and inspire fellow retailers and forecourt operators. Says Munshi: “We will be debating the pros and cons of a branded approach vs doing it yourself, from whether to operate a symbol or unbranded operation to addressing the issue of whether to offer your own coffee or work with some of the big coffee shop names.”

Moiz Vas, founder of Retail’s Best, explains: “We ran a poll at a previous Retail’s Best event asking the question, what’s more important to your customers, brand or price? Over 70% of retailers who attended said that price was more important, which prompted us to introduce the opportunity to discuss this further at our next event, with a panel hosted by retailers, for retailers”.

Attendance at Retail’s Best is by invitation only, with each event typically attracting a guest list of 100 plus key decision makers at independent retail businesses and forecourts. The next Retail’s Best event sees Bestway return as an official partner, this time focusing on their delivered wholesale offering, Bestway Direct. Further details will be announced shortly.
